hi guys,

i'm new to this forum. I'm planning to buy a pair of JL C2-650. Focusing only on front stage here. i hate to hear anything coming from behind //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Will a JX360/2 be alright ?

and what's the difference between class D and class A/B amps ?

I was looking at a few class D amps but they are more expansive and i can't see any of those that pulls out around 100W x 2 at 4ohm unless you bridge them. I don't wanna bridge them cuz i wanna keep the setup stereo...

i use to run two 6-1/2'' coaxial type R with a class D MRV300 and needed to bridge it to get the 150W x 2. The loudness was pretty good but i was losing quality as the volume went up.

Feel free to suggest anything else guys....Basicaly, i want a good front stage system with component speakers and want the best bang for buck ! I want excellent quality at high volume !

Get a 4 channel. It will leave you room to grow larger on when you decide to ditch the passive crossovers

Don't get caught up in D vs A/B. A good amp is a good amp

JL is not bang for your buck, they are mediocre with bad tweeters

Look at NVX for speakers and amp. The JAD amp is based off a very good Hertz amp. The top speakers are based off a $$ ARC black.

Good thx for your input !

but based on what i see on NVX website, the X-series 6-1/2'' are 115W rms each at 4 ohm, while the JAD800/4 pulls out 125Wx4 rms at 4 ohm....i heard the amp we use should be around 150% of the speakers rating so you run the amp at low gain and prevent the amp from clipping....i'm not a professional of audio so i would like to know what real enthusiasts think about it !

Ok, so tell me if i'm getting this correctly :

if i get a 4 channel amp, i can run 2 mid-woofers and 2 tweeters seperately on each channel so i won't need any external crossovers, right ? i just set the LP on the woofer and the HP on the tweeter through the amp ?

That's called active and I'm pretty sure that one has that capability. You can buy the speakers raw without the passives

The JAD800.4 is 115W rms x4 at 4ohm...

The X-series 6.5'' midwoofer is 50W rms

The x-series 29mm tweeter is 65W rms

Is the JAD800.4 too powerful for those speakers ? I guess i need to keep the gain at minimum ?
