Amp for JL Audio 12W3 v2

You picked up just one ar a pair? If its just one all you really need is 250 to 300 rms of clean power. You can find alot of deals on the net and even at your local retail shops since it is the time for all the new 05 models to replace the 04 ones. Lots of great deals on Brands like MTX and others. You can get a 421D for right around $150 or a 801D for about $250. I'm not talking Ebay crap thats a referb either. The 421 puts out 300RMS at 12V and 420 at 14.4v and the 801D puts out 500 rms at 12v and 800 at 14.4v both are mono amps.

Alot amps out there, MTX may not be your 1st chocice and may not be the best but it is a clean power amp that is far beyond say a Profile amp. You can get a Profile amp for about the same price and power, may be even less $$$ but I would only use a Porfile to run a sub nothing else.

What's wrong with MTX amps? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/furious.gif.fc81ca146dbff91fede3ed290dbc4f4c.gif

I have an old school Blue Thunder Pro 3002 that have like seven years, it's now powering a pair of JL 12W3V2-D4 loud 'n clear and still working like a champ //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I will go MTX again if I have to, no problems with it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsup.gif.3287b36ca96645a13a43aff531f37f02.gif

To the original poster you didn't mention what impedance you got?

I will go with the 401D if you are only running one, and the 801D if you are going to add another one.

BTW nice choice on subs //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Nothing wrong with MTX amps or subs, I have two Thunder series amps on the way for very little $$$$. Not everyone may like them, but that's not saying anything bad about them. I went to the JL web site and sent an e-mail to there tech support about the MTX 421D and what it could run since I had all kinds of miss info from different stores and shops. They (JL) recommended one 12-w3v2-2 not a 12w6v2 unless I upgraded to say the 801D. By upgrading to the 801D I could run two 12w3v2-2 and it would be no problem or just one 12w6v2. JL 1000/1 is a bit expensive for what you get and not really nesssary considering all the options you have.
