The PPI will be fine at 1ohm giving it all it has as long as it's clean. The woofer will rarely if ever see 1000 watts from that amp.
if youre gonna be running anything over 800 or so watts, dont do what i did and think that 4 gauge will suffice, because it really wont. 8 gauge will support up to around 300 watts (give or take), but its always best to give more electrical capability than less. Another thing to consider is how much amperage your alternator is outputting. Amps like the CAB 1600 or my SQ 2200.1 pull around 200 amperes and stock alternators (unless you drive an ambulance) probably wont put that much out. May want to consider another battery in the trunk by the amp, but for sure 1/0 gauge for something thatll power it properly. Not cheap, but welding wire is often recommended to get the juice needed for less $$Sounds like I have a bit of work to do. I think I'll upgrade my big 3 to 1/0. I have 8 ga currently installed and that's probably a little small for how long my cable is. Its always a pain in the *** to do new wiring through the firewall. Hopefully pretty soon I'll have the cab installed and bumping my FI.
