amp for 3 atlas 12"s

Alright so i already have 2 atlas 12"s in 2.0 ft^3 tuned to 32 hz each. Im runnin them off of an alpine mrd-605 at final ohm load of 2. so each sees about 300 watts. I really like the sound of this set-up but i am adding another atlas to complete the sub stage. What amp would you guys recommend? Keep in mind that atlas' are 4 ohm svc, so final ohm load would be at 1.34 ohms. I was thinking about just going with the alpine mrd-1005, but i dont think this is capable of handling 1.34 ohms daily. I also wouldn't mind going up and gettin the pdx 1.1000, but again not sure if it can handle the ohm load. budget is around $400-500, im really looking for a nice SQ amp that will go well with my atlas'. Other options might be a crossfire vr1000d, diamond d61000.1.

You can wire those for 2 ohm also.

Series wire the gold adj. Q coil with the silver VC for 6 ohms, then wire all three in parallel for two.

Power handling actually goes up, and it doesnt hurt the sub at all. The Q will be on low also (just like with a wire across the gold terminals, how it should be in a ported box anyway).

Just gives you a few more options on amp selections.

I talked at length with Chad about running three Atlas's awhile back. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Now I only have one Atlas sitting on my dresser //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif Nice little subs.

haha apparently you didn't read the full post, around 1000 watts at 1 ohm
Edit: Also, I don't think the zx1000.1 is stable at 1ohm
i highly doubt he'll have any problems running it @ 1.34 nom

As for powering the second coil, i thought I read that was not recommend...could be wrong though

yeah i thought you were only supposed to wire the gold terminal for ht? i dunno though. Kinda confused on your explanation on wiring to 2 ohms, can you possibly draw me a pic? if i can get a final load of 2 ohms then i might just have to pick up that sexy PDX1.1000

As long as you dont overpower the gold terminal Chad said it was OK. When I first got my Atlas's I had it in my head for some reason it was the GOLD terminals that were the main powered ones...then after about 30 minutes of playing around I started second guessing myself and went and looked on the AA site. Sure enough it was the silver terminal. So I called Chad right up and asked him how bad I probaby just messed up my new subs and he said it was fine as long as its not bigger amounts of power-not sure what he calls 'bigger amounts of power'. I only has ~150 watts to each of them.

All you have to do is series wire the coils, just like you would any other DVC sub. Positive of one coil to negative of other coil. That will give you a 6 ohm load (main coil is 4 ohm, little adjustable coil is 2 ohm). Then just wire each sub parallel to the amp and you have 2 ohm.

Here is a pic...IGNORE the ohm ratings, just look at the wiring configuration...

Maybe you could give Chad a call and he can go over it will you a little better.
