Amp for 2 SA-12 D2s

I would never say the werent good amps i know there worth the money. im just not sure if there strong enough for what i want. i would like to give the SAs 1000watts a piece. im still looking up reviews on both as to power output and reliabilty @ .5 and @ 2 ohms.

cant go wrong with sa or dd. there is a reason you see them for sale on threads going for high prices at a quick rate.

Now i have read a couple reviews and none of them say 2K+ on the 1500d even at .5, the DD i have seen 2K+ and i heard it runs cool. I may be wrong I'm still looking up both of them. How much more electrical would i need to run at .5 vs 2ohms?

the 1500D will do over 2k at .5 the dd will do over 2k at .5

how big is your current alt but i would say a single deka 9A31 would suffice if you have a decent alt like 100amp or so.

i have a 1500 on 2 SA12s now and they love it. Dont quit see the point of putting more power than a 1500 on em for daily purposes. If you dont want to run at .5 just use the extra cash left over from your 400 and buy new recones. There pretty cheap from sundown.

I was told that they do good on 600 watts but are are outstanding on 1000-1500 a piece. maybe i show just lower my assumed requirments and just give 7-800 a piece that would make finding a amp alot easier.

My current alt is a stock 105 amp. I contacted a local company today and they will rebuild it tomarrow for me. it will be 220amp after the rebuild.

So there a local guy selling a Autotek MM4000.1 the older Silver one with dual inputs. I know its way more power then i need, but i talked him down to $350. The problem is that when he finally showed up ( after i waited for almost 4 hours, after driving an hour to meet)to show it to me it played for about 30 secs and went into protect. He was running a DD3518 wired at 2ohms. it sounded good for a couple seconds. He said that the wires inside the box must have touched and thats what put in to protect. With out seeing anything in the box he knew for sure thats what happen, he said the wires were twisted together and held with electrical tape. So instead of fixing it he unhooked the amp and tired selling it. I told him to fix his crap and call me later. I will be meeting up with him after work today if i dont buy something while im here at work.

The guy is shaddy as hell but i think its a good deal. what would yall do? what would cause a amp to go into protect after a couple seconds? it wasnt even turned up that much and the voltage was above 13.

How can you test an amp in a car? Sorry for the long post just trying not to get screwed. -Jon
