Amp Fading?

Hey Guys, new to the forum and this is my first post! I DID read the stickies but i'm pretty much an audio novice when it comes to ready that.

I have a problem. I recently bought a new subwoofer (Pioneer Premier TS-W3002D2; 1000 RMS, 3500 peak). I kept my same amp i had which is a HiFonics HFi1500D which should be plenty enough to power it (I would think)

The sub performs fine most days but some days the amp will cut out (no lights on amp or bass controller) and then come back on and the sub will hit again. Now Im not sure if the subwoofer is sticking or if its the amp itself (which is MY thought). Maybe the settings are wrong?

I dont use EQ on the HU. I pressed on the subwoofer, didnt seem to appear blown

yea i did check. cables seemed fine. I'm thinking its the amp as well because even when the sub goes out it comes back on as soon as the amp lights up again. Also I DID have one day where a spark and a little smoke came from it but I think one of the wires touched my stabilizer bar in the trunk

Heat. Thermal. Aid's.

If the power wire grounded out on the bar while it was connected it could've hurt the amp. I'd say open it up and look for burnt traces, fet's ect.

That was my thought but then I thought why wouldnt it go into protect mode? or is it without letting me know? I think imma just replace the amp. I wanted to when that first happened but since it came on and seemed to work fine, i just let it go.

just tighten down your power, ground and remote cables. my friend had an issue like that and it turned out to be that his remote wire was loose. if the light on the amp just goes off and not protect then just those cables. but not just the connections on the amp. make sure its make perfect contact at the battery, at the ground point, and the where the remote wire is connected behind the HU

Will definently look at that remote wire. JUST replaced the battery so it could be but some amps have lights that inform about protect mode right? and some have a protect mode but aren't always lit?

yes most amps have a red light to inform you if it went into protect mode. hifonics amps have a protect light so it should light up
