Amp doesn't power on

Ok, so I previously had this whole set up working. I installed a switch on the remote wire, and cleaned up some excess wire, and upon completion, I'm getting no power. So in general, what are the ideas? I'm getting 12+ volts at the connection to the amp, and although I'm getting voltage reading through the remote wire, it's not 12+ volts. Fuses all look good, so I'm guessing it's that low voltage at the remote wire? Does that come from a bad ground?

Sounds like the problem is at the switch. Either it's wired wrong, or the added resistance is dropping the voltage just enough so the amp won't accept it as an turn on signal. If you're getting 12+ volts at the B+ I don't think its the ground.

What gauge wire are you using for the remote wire?

Try temporarily connecting a wire from +12 to remote_in on the amp and see if it turns on.
This is a good idea. It rules out a problem with the amp.

I forget exactly. I'll have to look again, but I believe it was really low. Like 5 ish. And I tried jumping it from the main power, but it still didn't power on. It worked entirely with the button included, but the ground for the button was questionable. I can take a look at that, but with the jump not making the amp turn on, I was concerned it was the amp. Fuses look good, but maybe I should change them. I've seen others have success changing them out.

did you disconnect the existing remote wire when you jumped it? if not try that. There might be something shorting out a little on that wire not letting the jumper fire it up either. What type of switch did you wire in? where do you have power from that coming from. How many amps in the system is there?

I did disconnect when running the jumper. The switch is a basic rocker. So it's just the supply/load split and a ground. And then lastly, it's only one amp. I'm going to switch these fuses now.

^^^ this. Disconnect all wires from the remote input at the amp. Then jumper the amp's +12 to the remote input and see if it turns on. If it does, you have something shorted or wired incorrectly with your new switch.

What make/model amp are you using BTW?
