amp cutting off randomly.

Ok I just installed phoenix gold rsd6.5cs in my front doors. I ditched the rear fill and bridged the amp for the 2 front components. The amp is a eclipse ea4000. It was originally ran off 4 channels for front and rear speakers. The problem didnt start happening until i installed components and bridged amp. The amp and speakers will sound great and then out of nowhere the amp will cut completely off. The sub amp will stay on and continue playing bass. I have 4 gauge from battery to distr. block then 8 gauge to each amp. I also have both amps grounded to same bolt underneath back seat. I need to grind paint off though but do you think this is the problem? also my neg. battery terminal is messed up and i need to fix it but my reading on my a-pillar gauge is around 12.5-13 volts or better when the amp cuts off. It dipped under 12 one time but didnt cut off at that time. Also my gains weren't set the right way but i turned them down and it seemed to help but then it cut out again later. It seems to just cut out like maybe every 15-20 mins. Please help any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

Sounds like an electrical problem or wrong settings on your amp. You have WAY too many variables to go fix. Go do all that stuff that you listed and come back.

Not really.

It's possible your a-pillar gauge can be connected to the output of your alternator... But, I could be wrong. But it's more likely a ground issue...

Or your amp can only run X -resistance while bridged and you're not running that resistance.

Unbridge your amp and be happy, you little biznitch.

He's running 2 ohms bridged? Did I miss that?

no im pretty sure the ea4000 runs at 4 ohm bridged. I may be mistaking but im pretty sure it is. I fixed the grounds today to where i know they couldn't be any better. It's weird but the amp will just all the sudden cut off randomly, seems like around maybe every 20 mins so its not like its on then cuts right off. I can just cut off the headunit and cut it back on and it will power up the amp and I will have sound again. Does anyone think its just an amp issue? Also would i need to set the gains lower than when i had all 4 channels runnin front and rear? when i had it not bridged the gain was higher and it worked completely fine. Also there is no distortion at all whenever it decides to cut off. It sounds great actually then it cuts off out of nowhere. Anyone think its something weird with the remote turn on? I've got the amp along with a sub amp with a remote wire going to each one up to remote turn on lead on the hu. Would it be better to tap into the sub amps remote turn on lead closer to my other amp or to even tap into the ignition just to see if this is the problem. Also i checked battery with dmm with car running and system up at decent level and it was reading 13.8- 14.4 so im not really sure. Thanks for the help. I might just go back to having the rear fill but hopefully i can get it to sound as good and loud as it does before it cuts off now this way. Is that possible or i guess I will have imaging issues again or maybe just cut the gain down for the rear fill lower than front stage? Thanks for the help.

i looked on the eclipse fujitsu-ten website or whatever and it was showing that it was 4 ohm stable putting 150 wrms x 2. Maybe i looked something up wrong but im pretty sure thats what i read. Id like to get this amp working but i might just end up getting another decent cheap amp like the kicker zx350.4 . Thanks for the help and any more suggestions or ideas are def. welcome.

also i just thought about it, I've got a switch for each set of channels front and rear that is for mono. If i turned this back on would it fix it? I think that could be whats wrong. Thanks again.

ok nevermind i tried that and went and drove around and it seemed better for a while but then it did it again, so i cut off hu and cut it back on and went down 2 on the volume and it would stay on so im thinkin it is maybe the gain. But i had the gain up more when they weren't bridged and had no problems. Also i hear no distortion at all, it sounds really good right before it cuts off. Im going to set gain with dmm tomorrow but is there any way it will still hopefully be as loud and sound as good or do i need to go ahead and get another amp? Thanks, this is driving me crazy.

well im pretty sure i've got it fixed. I just went back and rewired it and unbridged it so i have rear fill now. Only problem is now my tweeters aren't working so i guess they are blown. I tried a tweeter i just had laying around on pass. side and it worked so i know its not the crossover. Anyone know if audiosavings is easy to deal with about warranty or not? the speakers and tweeters weren't clipping from what i heard and weren't distorted at all. Gain wasn't cranked crazy high either. If anyone knows how they are with warranty let me know, i've already sent them an email about warranty. Also if they dont help me with the warranty can i just buy replacement tweeters like some decent diamond audio or something around 100 or less and use the pg rsd crossovers without any problems and them still sound good? Thanks everybody, and any recommendations on new tweeters are welcome.

yea i set gains with dmm today. They weren't distorting or clipping before though. Anyone know about using another set of decent 4 ohm tweets on the pg crossovers be ok? or know how audiosavings.com is about warranty? Thanks
