amp cuts out what do i need?

just installed 500 watt kicker amp powers 1 kicker 12. system will work for a couple minutes till heavy bass then cut out into protect mode. do i need capaciter? new battery? Ive got 4 gauge wire and remote is wired into the battery. i have to reconnect battery terminals to get the amp back in power mode.

Check your wiring at the fuse and fuse holder and make sure all of that is solidly in there.

Check your terminals and make sure all of the wire is snug in your amp allowing for maximum contact.

Check your ground (like he said)

Lol are you guys seriously missing this?

First off the remote line doesnt go to the batt, it should go to the REM (blue/blue w/white stripe) on the back of you headunit. That way the amp will only turn on when the key is on.

As said check the grounds, make sure there is a ring terminal on the wire and that the metal is clean and free of paint.

I'm going to point to amp settings or impedance first.

What sub, what amp, and what are your settings?

guess im use to running more then 2-4 amps. shoulda read the thread first, i usually have to have a relay switch for them

My buddy's amp did the same and we checked everything and nothing worked, until we found out it was the RCA outs on te back of his cd player that were some how messed up.
