Amp cut-out, faulty?

Recently I installed a stereo system in a car, but the system has recently been experiencing problems....

The setup includes a Pioneer head-unit, and Alpine MRP-M350, and two Alpine Type-E 12" (wired in paralell).

The first time that we used the system, it performed very well, sounded clear, played loud. Everything worked well. After about an hour and a half of high volume thogh, the subs suddenly shut off. At first I assumed that it was perhaps thermal protection in the amplifier (as it was relatively warm). Upon turning the head-unit of (thus turning the amp off aswell) and waiting several minutes before powering it up again, it all worked again - for the rest of the evening.

The real problem comes in the increasing frequency of the same situation. However, it occuring now in shorter time periods, and at lower volume levels.

Personally, I can't think of anything that may cause something like this other than some sort of circuitry flaw in the amp. I have verified all power connections, but have not checked voltages for any irregularities.

Any suggestions for things to check, or information relating to this issue is greatly appreciated.
