amp connecting help

ok my friend today said that when i hook up 2 subs lets say to a jbl bp1200.1 at 2 ohms that each sub will be getting 1200 watts each. since the audiobahns aw1200x have 700 watts rms would this harm my subs or amp, i mean i could turn the gain down...my big question was if the amp will be giving each sub 1200 watts to each sub..thanks

no, it will put out 1200 total, thats 600 per sub.
