Im thinking about finally buying an amp for my 05 daul 4 ohm 15'' L7. If i had the money i would without question buy a kx1200.1 but their are a couple amps on the forums for sale. They are a PG tantrum 1200 and hifonics bxi1205.

I have heard that the tantrum is alittle underated and hifonics amps are alittle overrated. Im not sure what ohm the tantrum is even stable at. What do you guys think is the better amp

Tantrum sounds nice but the kx1200 would be your best bet i think, or maybe an orion 1200d

the pg tantrum1200.1 is rated 1200rms@2-4ohms. birthsheets have proven them to put out closer to 1500rms@2-4 ohms or more and not stable to 1ohm. the kx1200.1s birthsheets have been 1500rms@1ohm or more.

yes. it does the 1500rms@2, 3, and 4 ohms. it's a REGULATED power supply.

the tantrum would be a great deal. and convenient if you get 2 dual 4's. and wire@ 4ohms (unless i'm confused). it's a very solid amp. pa amps are also good. but the tantrum is a lil more flexible imo.

Well it looks like im gonna have to wait till next payday. Maybe i will luck out and find a kx1200.1 for the right price. I didnt know all kx1200.1's did their power at 1 ohm ? I knew they were stable at 1 ohm then switched to 2 ohm like the kx 600.1's and kx 2500.1's

The Tantrum is by far the most flexible amp out of the ones you listed, and will give you the most choice in wiring options in the future...1400+ at any impedance between 2 and 4 ohms.
