Amp Blown, Faulty Wiring, need some help!!!

I just installed some 0 gauge wiring and i accidentally hit the power on the ground wire and it made a huge spark. Now at this point it was not hooked up to the amp. When i hooked the power to the amp, it made another spark, very tiny though and the guy at the electronic store said it was normal for that little spark.

Well now my sub, doesnt work and i wanna know if u know what fuses might of blown. I check the main fuse in the wiring, and the 2 on the amp, but there fine ne others that may make this thing work

i doubt u blew the amp... remote wire good? and double check the fuses, sometimes they dont look blown but really are.

You should always disconnect the negative battery terminal before doing ANYTHING electrical...

But open up your amp and check for any brown/black marks on the board. If anything is even slightly blackened, it needs replacing...

And check your remote lead...

yeah and always put your main fuse in last so the power wire can't short out on anything... get a meter and check for 12v on the 12v and remote wires...

The power wire can short out?? i havent ever heard of that happening, how does that happenin.

when you have current flowing through it and it touches ground

Any insulated wire that passes through metal - like a firewall - has the potential to rub and slice the insulation due to vibration and time. It has happened before, and when it does the battery tries to discharge into a dead short. A couple of hundred amps almost instantly. Needless to say, your power wire doesn't like that too much, and will catch fire due to the heat...

The fuse near the battery stops this from happening.
