amp and speakers

ok so ive bought a pair of rockford fosgate punch p1652s splits for the front of my car, i also have a kenwood kdc-u446 headunit to run them. I am interested in getting an amp for them. This part im confused about , if i get an amp that pushes 50w rms per channel is it going to sound the same as wen it is hooked up to just the headunit by itself? or will it sound much better, clearer and louder? any help would be great!
