If you haven't tried this Ambioponics aka Stereo-binaural processing that Durwood raves about yet then you must!

I have here a pre-processed track and a non processed track of a Dave Mathews Band live song of "All Along the Watchtower"

Directions are in the Read Me file I composed. The track has been processed using Reaper with an Electro-Music Mosiac vst plugin by me.

Read Me

This track has been processed using Reaper and a Electro-Music plugin.

Instructions:

- Place your speakers about 2", yes that is Inches, from each other

- Make sure they are aiming about 10-15 degrees inwards towards each other

- Now sit back about 5-6'(feet), visually be center with the speakers and try to be eye level if possible.

- Listen to the non ambio version first, then the ambio version.

You'll notice the speaker boundaries disappear. This is because the crosstalk between the speakers has been "controlled" using the dsp with cancellation along with physical cancellation. (more in depth on ambiophonics.org)

The stage is now wider and can expand and contract, there is added texture to the music and sounds more life like.

Feel Free to move the speakers wider or closer and play with the degrees and hear what it does.

DO NOT USE HEADPHONES! It will not work, just to make it clear.
Its suppose to give you the control of headphones without having to wear headphones.
Hmm, I was always under the impression that binaural recordings worked best with headphones.

I'm going to dl now...

I'll have to ask, what about laptop speakers(stereo) that are placed about 13-14" apart? If I am thinking correctly, I would have to be infront of the convergence point or a considerable ways of..

Laptop speakers will work, but varies and is not predicable. If it sounds bad then it is more than likely a placement issue. There are soo many different settings you can do for processing.

It is not a binaural recording. It is an Ambiophonic stereo-binaural recording.

Its to give the emulation of headphones, so your left ear doesnt hear the right channel and vice versa. It sends a delay to each other of the signal and in hopes to cancel crosstalk as much as possible, without wearing them and it wont sound like its inside your head. So basically it gives you the benefits of Stereo and the benefits headphones and will sound true mono, but a bit more 3d. Without all the negatives. The only downside is the sweetspot is directly in the middle.

You tried it? Badass huh. Really makes you smile, because its doing something thats hard to wrap your head around! You get the full stage without compression issues and you dont need that large of a room to do so.
