Am I the only one

Not saying you can't. Seems more efficient cost wise to do it with a larger driver though. Sure a bunch of sa-8s can hit 50 at 29hz. But the cost of drivers and cost of power to do it turns me off it.

Oh, don't go throwing logic at these fools... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif Force = Mass X Acceleration. A beefy 8" sub can get loud, but it certainly isn't going to get very low. It still needs to displace the same amount of air as the 15 or 18. You could build a T-line and get it to go pretty low, but what for? A sub built for SPL doesn't usually sound that great. Anyone can build a setup that pumps out numbers at a narrow range of frequencies..

To the other people who ride each others nuts about how great their 15's or 18's are.

As far as the 15's or 18's being slopping and weak; Yes, that is true if you are using 80% of the cones available to the car audio market. A very stiff cone, coupled to a very powerful motor CAN make for a clean, accurate, detailed sub. ex. TC LMS Ultra. Most of the car audio market would not know anything about this. Bass amp cabinet makers know very well how to make an accurate cab with clean low sound. Hartke uses aluminum cones for a more punchy sound. Just like the old Phoenix Gold and Eclipse subs.

Same with high end studio audio or theater. They use a more lightweight accurate cone.

Maybe some people mistake loud bass for clean? I know I've seen quite a few of those people at the sound comps with no clue of what loud SQ or SQL really is.

You got cars today with factory 6.5" door speakers that are hitting below 100hz loud and clean.

What the F do I need anything less than 15's for? My brother's 2012 charger has 6x9's on the doors..........why would you want anything less than 15 inch subs in the trunk, I don't know.....
