Am I gonna be disapointed?

Im looking at getting a DD 1508 to put in my truck and i was wondering what type of bass these little guys put out. Im used to the sound of 2 12"s but the last setup i had only had like 250 RMS. Im gonna be running about 600 rms to the DD ported. I just dont know if its gonna have a good amount of low end with the tuning of 40 HZ which DD recomends. If anyone can give me some insight on these subs that would be great.

Compared to 2-12's, yes, you will be disappointed.
yes. even with the same amount of power it still wouldnt be as loud. heres the deal. these things can get quite loud, however i'd suggest a variable tuning. I have an 3" aeroport in my 1508's box. dont remember the exact lengths but one is tuned to 32 and one to 40. it can move quite a bit of air, but unless you are gonna be pushing some real serious power to it you'll probably miss what 2 12's have to offer.

you are more than doubling the wattage, so that will help some. no way to fit 2?

Id love to run 2 but i was going on a budget. I have like 160 bux to spend on subs and was just needing a little bass. Ive always wanted to run a DD sub so i thought id give the 1508 a try since i can afford it :p Id spend more but this is just a truck that gets me to work and back and i dont wanna put alot into it. The only other thing i was thinking was 3 8" re res are about the same price, but didnt know how they would stand up next to the DD's

3 RE 8's would satisfy you more than 1 DD. in terms of loudness. those DD's are one of the beefiest looking 8's around though.

If you can, at least move on up to a DD1510.

You will have alil more cone area to work with then.

Yes, you can get the 8's to sound good...but coming off of 12's you will lack some authority down low.

Great subs, small cone.

i'd bet that those DD 8's can get just as low as a 12. at least with any frequency you'd hear in music. 2 8's will do what 1 12 can with the same watts.

Id love to run 10s or even go back to 12's but i cant realy fit them. I dont feel like removing the back seat in my truck but i guess i may have to to get the bass i want. Unless there is someway i can build a wedge type box that will let me fit a bigger sub in a small space. I guess im gonna go measure my backseat again real quick and decide what i can do.

the re 8's arent as loud (i have one of them as well //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif) but one thing that helps is my dd1508 is only a single 4 ohm... the re 8 can run at 2 ohms, and they can survive a bit of power as well... i ran mine at about 500 rms for a day and it didnt die lol.
