Am i about to get fired?

Your registers don't have a password lock-out so only the person signed on can use it (or whoever knows your password..)? I'm a cashier and I'm now training to work in our cash office, so I do audits on everybody's tills... if you feel it's someone before/after you that's taking the money you can request an audit before and after your shift. If someone uses your register when you go on break you can request an audit before and after break as well.

I don't know how your company does audits but I would think they have a money counting machine and it should only take a minute tops to count your money. If your drawer is off by that much at my store I would put you on personal audit and nobody else would be allowed to touch your register and I would audit you every time you had a break or left.

no way all of a sudden your always off. someone somewhere is messing with you. just count it before you start work and count it before you step away from the register. and if it was me at the end of the night id count it again by myself and id take a video of all the money laid out on my counter (phone video) tehn turn it in. and when they say its wrong id ask how did the money change? i got it on video that it was correct. that will let whoever is messing with you that you know whats going on. then id make a comment about by law im not held accountable for my money if you guys count it anyways. then just clock out. and id call HR about the whole thing also

My old boss kept a lot of people on just so he had a lot of people to call when someone called in. He was supposed to cover it, but he was a lazy ****er. I never called in once in the 1.5 years I worked for them. I called in one day (it was a grocery store) and he said no... It was a 3 hour shift. I didn't come in, called him, and told him to shove the job up his ***.

new person hired bc i wanted less hours for May, now my register is off 3/4 days and if it happens again i get fired. Boss keeps reasurring me they dont think im stealing.

Tell them you're not stealing and to have Loss Control watch you for an entire shift. If your register is still wrong, you'll have an eye witness you didn't steal. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Tell them you are willing to pay whatever is short out of your pocket. Why would offer to do that if you were stealing and how could they fire you? Then just do what other said by counting the money whenever you have a chance and being there when the manager counts. If you want this job it will be easy to keep, you act like you are already fired.
This doesn't work. It's like saying "Okay I stole...you caught me...here's the money."

To the OP the only thing I can say is to count your money before hand against the till, guard your register, and count it out with the manager present during the drop. In most stores, you don't know what your drop is supposed to be until your closeout tells you, so you can't count it out without the manager. Also, don't allow the manager to do a midday drop. Have him/her wait until the end of your shift. The less times for the money to be handled, the less fuck ups.

On another note, if you're not counting your bank before you start a shift, you'll never know if it's short from the outset.

If you think it's a set up, you should quit before they fire you, that way you can at least use this place as a reference.
