What other subs would you include in the Alumapro's SQ catagory ?

I'm looking for subs that fit these general requirements :

Great for Rock , Blues , and Jazz ...... No rap

Has VERY fast transients , VERY high resolution , and almost NO overhang

Can play clear and LOUD AS HELL !!!!

The Alumapros fit that bill when they are in a sealed enclosure , and powered with the right power ...... I'm interested in what else there is......

Oh yeah ..... I should mention , the Diamond Audio CM3's sounded very similiar to my requirements , as well as the older Boston Pro subs.....

What else ?

Arc subs ,IDQ's, IDv3's ,Soundsteam Exacts...
Interesting .... Are the Image Dynamic subs different than they were about 6 years ago ? I'm sure they probably are ..... I used a single 10" ID sub in a sealed enclosure , and it was smooth , but lacked dynamics ..... kind of had a distinguishable sound that was somewhat colored really.

I hear good things about them now , so they've probably improved a lot.

Never tried the others , but I'd like to hear them.....

Thanks for responding.

i installed 2 idq v2's sealed in my friends altima. best sq ive heard from a sub other than the infinity perfect vq, and it made quarters bounce //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

If you liked the DAT CM3 then you'd likely really the M6.
Interesting that you say that , because I just spent the last 3 months listening to a 10" Diamond Audio D6 ( the M6's replacement ) , and I sold it to get two Alumapro Alchemy MX 12's ......

I used to have an Alumapro Alchemy MX 10 , and I LOVED it , but I let Koop at Diamond talk me into trying his D6 in a special slot loaded design that is on their webpage .....

While it was simply the best ported design I've ever heard , it still fell short of the speed and tightness of Alumapro in a sealed box , and I just had to sell it to be happy again.

As a side note , I bought the Alumapro 12's that replaced the Diamond from Ebay , and got burned ..... I bought two 4 ohm subs to make a 2ohm mono load , but received two 8ohm ones instead ..... Now I'll have to sell these 8 ohm ones and buy the 4 ohms .......Money lost , lesson learned //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

I did not get to hear the D6 in a sealed box however , and maybe that was a mistake on my part .... I did prefer the CM10 I once owned over the D6 , but once again I'm comparing sealed to ported ......

By no means should the tsx be louder then the ssi, unless an install error. The ssi is better built, gets louder, and handles more power.
take a simple look at the ts parameters. iirc, more excursion 2.125" vs. 1.08", more cone area 44.0" vs. 41.6", and over 5 more db's of sensitivity. and realistically, if you have personally been able to play with these subs, the power handling is about the same.

oh and i forgot, they both have their purposes. the TSX is more comparable to the W6v2 while the SSi is more comparable to the W7.
Ide say the ssx is more comparable to the w7. The dub 7 would flat out stomp the ssi, but the ssx is a closer match, maybe even a little better then the dub 7.

the ssx is a monster. the W7 isnt even near that caliber of a subwoofer that the SSX is. The SSX has twice the amount of excusion and far greater power handling. the SSi and the W7 are more on the same level. the TSX and the W6v2 are on the same level.
