alterstart alt trouble

im not dissing alterstart or anything just looking for some more opinions of what i should do.

i installed my alt and the voltage read 14.6 at idle and when i put a load on it (my system) it held fine and then started to drop so i turned it off. ever sense then i have not seen voltage over 14.1 and last night it was reading 12.5v and not even charging my battery. but today it goes to like 13.5v at idle just when my engine cooling fan comes on.

iv been emailing back and fourth with them and basically they havnt been as helpful as i hoped. just basically said it might be a defect or weak battery. and my bat. seems to be fine it reads 12.8 and it always has and i have not problem starting the car.

so i dont really know what to do at this point i can send it in to them which would be a huge pain in the *** OR i dont know, give me some ideas.

I'm not the go-to for under the hood workings...but what I would do is take my car to Advanced Auto, O'Reilly's, etc...and have them read your battery and let you know where it stands and if its 100% get it in writing so you can tell AND show that to the alt manuf. I would see if you could have the alt output tested out as well. If its a defect make them responsible for replacing costs involved such as labor, parts, etc.

is it a ho alternator? because i bought a 180 amp ho alterstart alternator from them about a year ago, and it was worse than my stock alternator.

yeah im going to have the auto part store test it out as soon as i get a chance.

and yes it is an HO alt from alterstart that does 150a.

they will replace everything for free including shipping as long as there is something wrong with the alt. its a pain to get to in my car so i want to make sure its F'ed up befor i go shipping it back
