alternator and battery question

i finally got my amp workin two days ago and i was drivin around bumpn sounds and... I fried my alternator. I checked into having a bigger one for my 92 toyota corolla and theres just about nothing they can do. If I bought a deep cycle battery with the stock size alternator, would i blow it again?? What can i do?

How many amps is you alt. rated? If your system was drawing to much current, slowly your alt. would not be able to fully recharge your batt. It shouldn't cause it to flat out fail :blow_up: . Were you running your amp at like 1ohm without a fuse or somthing? I bet it was a faulty alt.

Face it, your alt. was taking a dump before you even installed the system. My recommendation is buy the stock alt. and keep your battery(if its new). My friend drives around in a Pinto and he doesnt have trouble with his 40amp alt. he has an optima yellow top though with a JL 500/1

yea your prolly right its either my battery or alt but even without a system hooked up whnever i accelerate my lights get high and my heater starts blowin hard. my battery seems old as **** and my alternator is now rebuilt. its rated at 75 amps or so and im running a jensen 1200 watt class d and some p.o.s 75 watt amp. i could see my lights dimming before so i ran out and bought a capacitor. than it died, what kinda of battery should i get cuz i kno for sure im getting one. and is it a bad battery the reason my lights would dim and get brighter when accelerating? if that is te case could that have ripped apart my old alterntor?

check there...nte builds alt for all type of cars. should be able to for u too. peace

Use a multimeter and check the voltage at your battery when your cars off.it should be 12.6volts. then check it with your car running, it should be 13.6-14.4volts. If you cant get a bigger alt maybe try adding more woofers instead of watts.

You definitely need a new battery, just replace the stock one with a Yellow Top.
