Alternativ REM conection for AMP?

Hej, Im new to this forum.

Im gonna keep the original head unit that came with the car.

I dont think It has a REM cable for an AMP, so Im looking for an alternativ signal that will controll the power to the amp so that it wount be on all the time.

I was thinking about conecting the REM for the amp to the Ignition cable.

Got any other sugestions? I think the signal should have about 1-1,5 wolts.

I could always use a switch.

Regards /Erik

Well, if he did that he'd have to install a switch. I'd say wire it into the fuse box with a fuse that has juice when the car is turned on, and no juice when the car is off. That way the amp will turn on and off with the car.

thats what i did, works like a charm, just open up your inside accessoires fuse box.. most of those only have power when the key is one... just prod at them with a 12v tester to see what you want

not if it turns on and off with the ACC...

Thanks for the sugestions.

I checked out the Fusebox and its not easy to mess around near it so I simple attached the REM cable to the tail light, I heard there is no chance that it would /"Q#%¤ up the cars databox, also very easy to hide the wires from there.

I'm guessing this taillight is always on when the car is on??

the stock HU still has a wiring harness! it's ot that hard....just splive into either the blue wire or red wire in that harness on the HU! that's my recommendation, guranteed to work. peace

edit:

p.s.- also, it needs a +12v source just so ya know.

But what wire on a stock head unit would work the same as a remote wire on an aftermarket unit?

The wire that supplies power to the head unit would be my choice. Yes, the amp will be on even with the radio off, but it'll turn off with the key.

Another option is the power antenna wire, if your car has one.

But perhaps the slickest solution is one of those gizmos that senses the voltage on your HU speaker wires and gives you a remote from that. I think this guy sells them...
