altenator price

get a HO alt from either excessive Amperage, Iraggi, etc. Some other members will recommend you some others as well as they are all reliable.

try and get a 200amp or more HO alt. do your Big 3. get a new batt.

you can easily install it yourself. Just remove the timing belt and unbolt your OEM alt. Then remove the disconnect the wire thats attached to it, reattched teh wire to your new alt, bolt on the new alt, then put on the timing belt. It's that That easy. But again, if you have one of the newer cars that have engine compartments that leave no room for you to be able to work, you might have to remove the engine to get to the alt.

installation is really ez. 2 screws, a wire plug-in, and a lead to the battery. the only tough part(if u have never done it), is getting slack from the belt. but u can def do it yourself.

wait perfect timing! excessive has got a gb goin rite now! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

lol nobody has mentioned once to disconnect the battery before doing anything. also you don't disconnect the timing belt //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif most likely it's a cerpintine (sp?) belt. can't imagine a 97 with seperate belts.

if you are looking for a good replacement alt that will bolt up with no problems, look into http://www.mean-green.com. mine fit perfectly and they come with a 2 or 3 year warranty which is more then most of the other HO alt companies. also they include directions on how to install the alt. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

It will cost you probably 75-150 depending on where you live....plus the cost of the alt., I suggest doing it yourself with a HO alt
I would have to remove teh engine and i dont have the tools to do that

do you know how much it would be if they have to remove the engine

remind me never to buy a neon if you have to remove the entire engine to get at the alt. i can not believe you would have to pull the engine to replace the alternator. i would take off the fender before i would remove the engine. i mean that's just silly. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

Trust me you dont want a neon. and trust me taking off the fender would do no good its too far inwards under the hood is so compact you cant get to anything
