im having alt problems right now, so i havent had my system hooked up for about a week.. im just wandering if another stock alt and a big three and a red top under the hood will eliminate or at least help dissipate my dimming problems?

another stock alt? 2 stockers? id just get one H/O alt that does 100+ amps at idle. The big 3 and a battery MAY help.

not a 2 stock alt setup, another 1, the one i have is dying. one day on my way to school as i was backing out of my drive way, i turned the radio up a lil and the rear defrost on. car died when i turned on defrost. had to disconnect power from the battery. so i would just be another stock alt. i really dont wanna wait on shipping for a new h/o alt and i dont think autozone or advance carries them. ive got fall break and i was hoping to get everything up and going again. and get my car fixed up a little.

edit. autozone carries a 105 amp alt. how do you think that would work out with a red top and big three?

I just did the big three this weekend and it helped tremendously. I currently have a 460 watt Kenwood amp on 8 guage power/ground pushing two RF P2 12"s. My headlights and interior lights have been dimming horribly at stop lights and quite a bit even on the freeway. I decided to take a look at the wiring and throw in some 4ga for the big three. Battery pos to fuse block, Battery neg, and alt to battery pos. I just added to the existing wiring and now no dimming unless the engine is below 1000 rpms. Two things though: 1. I have a 2003 Olds Alero and you didn't mention your car make, 2. My alt wire is like 12ga (or less). I couldn't believe how small it was and thought I was missing something. Yours may not be this way. What I'm getting at is this: you might not experience the exact same result, but it will surely help out a lot with the dimming problem.

I'm going to be upgrading the amp soon and will move up to 4ga when I do on the power and ground. I would suggest the same if you are pushing any power over 400 watts.

a 105A alt will do fine with the setup in your sig. Just do the big 3 and id do a yellow top instead of a red.
