Alt. Whine

I got this **** 7996 deck in my truck and I can not get the unit to hush!

I switched out an lower Alpine deck for my Alpine 7996 Deck and now I have a major issue....

I get Alt. whine then I press the gas pedal, I unplugged the Antenna and it has noise and then I unplugged the RCA's and still have the same noise if not louder now with everything unplugged, maybe it's the deck?

The only way I get the noise to stop is unplug the wiring harness, hehehe

I believe the truck uses the antenna as the ground , if you unplug the antenna the unit cuts off but I also have the unit grounded now under the dash.

I have never seen such a mess, first time ever I have had this noise in my setups that I could tell.

any ideas?

If you're using the stock ground wire, dont.

Try running a new ground wire directly to a support member under the dash (away from the computer, if its down there).

Just dont forget to scrape the paint off so its a clean metal connection.

My car (not stereo) whines with the key in the Acc position; It's juicing the starter, which is generating the noise.

Run a seperate ground as suggested -- might even try directly to the battery if whatever's generating that noise is in your path.

The manual for that headunit suggests power lead directly from the battery also, for what it's worth.
