Alt. Whine Problem

id try to give each one its own remote wire(because its twice as easy as any other thing you can try( altho it seams to me like you are trying w/e we post and coming right back on) to give them all the starting watts they need. or maybe your ground block is split so many times that you need to upgrade the source of your ground( the gauge of your ground should always be equall or more then the power supply)that and id also switch the power supply from the hu to the 2nd battary to run along side your power cord for you amp's

All of my grounds match my power cables. I re-grounded all of the wires to the chasis where the battery is grounded to.

I was told on another forum specific to BMW's that it is most likey caused by the fact that I ran the component RCA wires down the passenger side of the car and that is where bmw from the factory runs there power wires.

I just installed my 4 channel and ran into the same problem. I had one of the speaker wires crossed over the power and ground running into the amp. I just switched it around so the wires are farther away from power and that fixed the problem if that helps any.

i had the whine on my avicd3 and regrounded everything and ran a ground to each of the rca's i still get a little bit of engine whine, but not as bad as it was. could i add a ground loop isolator to the already grounded rcas to get rid of the rest of the whine?

you can "ground" your rca by wraping a wire around the rca cables(allthe way front to back) then grounding it at both ends)if you need to do this your rca are prob old as hell and need to be replaced)

GG at being illinformed.

Altenator whine caused by a bad RCA ground is not actually your RCAs, but your HeadUnit. What happened to me was the Pico fuse in my HU popped, and wrapping my RCA shields and grounding them worked remarkably well. Odds are it has nothing to do with the cables themselves, and more with the HU.

I just removed my ground loop iso. and regrounded my headunit, which helped but did not completely remove the whine. When doing this should I cut the old ground or use both grounds?

BTW, the HU and RCA's are both new.

Is the metal where the wire is grounded bare?
