Alt: Rebuild or buy?

I have a 03" civic ex. Thinking of getting a h/o alt. I've heard there are shops around that can re-wind your alt bushing thicker, thus raising the output. Would this be a good alternative to buying new if money is an issue? I believe my stock alt is around 70 amps.

it's all preference though, and cost. whatever you pick is fine

If you can definitely buy a new HO alt. I've seen many problems with diodes when people get their alt rewound. It's better than running on stock alt either way though if you're stressing the alt.

Your best bet is to just call around your local shops. They'd know best on what they could do for your alt and give you a price.

I'd also check out Excessive Amperage and Iraggi on a quote for how much a new one would cost.
