alt died. batt still works. damaged?

My alt died when i was driving. battery was slowly drained until the truck shut off. got it towed home and what not. but battery still works. when the truck is off and it just sat there, the lights would work, and the doors would still lock and what not. just didn't have enough juice to start...

got a new alt, and had to jump it the first time, now its fine. the battery volt guage reads just like it did before the alt died and the battery drained a bit. Is this just recognizing the alts power? or is the battery really ok. i don't want to be sending a low voltage to the subs (saz 2000d. only @ 4 ohms pusshin a shiesty sony xplod). would the battery be much lower?

ill probably go get it checked out to b sure.

it should be fine...you woulda been better off charging the battery instead of charging it with the alt...

yeah. i didn't have anything to charge it with specifically. so i didn't think about that.
