If you do a window design I would subtract that but tbh it's probably not worth the effort to try and figure out the air space used by the dowels lulzDoes the dowel and MDF used as support need to be subtracted from the air space?

I used dowels when I was competing for a short time. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif I guess I was just trying to say that there are a lot of casual competitors that still use them. I understand that more serious competitors have more reason to go all out.judging by attendance id agree with you
but the OP asked SPL guys not regular caraudio guys thats why i answered

great idea....never thought of thatTry to stick with 1.25-1.5". A good way to get a larger bracing point is to cut your dowel 1.5" shorter than the span you're bracing. Use a hole saw to cut 2.5-3" diameter circles out of MDF to put on each side of the dowel, and you have yourself more surface area contact than a 2x4 while taking up 1/3 the space.
I'm full of all sorts of ideas. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gifgreat idea....never thought of that
