Louder, the SX...the Type-X will have it beat hands down in SQ though.

It's listener dependent, but it will have less distortion most likely, yes.

theyd be louder, but just don't fall into the trap that double the SA means double the spl. an xxx rapes the type x in sq, but they'd be louder.

Im not so sure a XXX rapes a type x in sq. The type x sounds pretty dam good. I bet it would come down to the install and the listener.

Very true, the type-x is supposedly a GREAT sounding driver, as is the XXX.

If heard both i prefer the sound of XXX over type x's

I have Type X 12". It's pretty good in term of sound quality.

up to the listener for sure---although the XXX's can take almost double the wattage of a type X type x=1000wrms XXX=1600+wrms but on the other hand you can buy 2 type x's for slightly more than the cost of one XXX

I have 1 Type-X 12 and I love the sq. Spl isn't bad either, 136.9 in a 1" MDF sealed enclosure, and that's in the huge cab of my Dodge Durango, with no sound deadener. I'm running the Alpine MRD-M1000 aplifier, around 1000 RMS (at 14.1 volts, 14.4 volts birth sheet said 1108 rms)
