alpine X yes no?

I'll give it to them, they are loud as hell.......but SQ wise //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsdown.gif.d22f25895e9b40f2300c953691dacfa2.gif It's just boomy, thudding bass. Not smooth at all; very lacking in the smooth transient department. It's either thudding or nothing, no transitions. And they completely overpower the front stage, don't blend at all. Very unnatural sounding all the way around.

The one w7 install the I have heard was in a SQ competition car. it was in about a 1ft cubed box, sealed. the front stage was all custom out of parts express book. I think the dayton 3 way crossover and different tweets mids and woofers. rear fill was a set of alpine type r components. all were powered by various soundstream amps.

It was incredible. the sup in no way overpowered anything, and response was right on que, and very accurate. sound reproduction was right as it was recorded.

the w7 reproduced everthing that was sent to it, and with great detail.

I have no complaints, and any woofer that is in the same range as this is a truely worthwhile speaker..

Still haven't heard one, and if you to a place like Tweeter to hear one they are in some crap/cheap prebuilt box, and I doubt it has the power it wants. Anyways if you do get one they can handle some poewer... I wouldn't use less then 1000-1500WRMS on it.

i recently ported a set of dual 10" type R's and personally i thought they got REALLY loud (not saying they are the best, but one of the top few that I"VE heard).....i wonder what the type-x sounds like ported? hmmm.

I just recently installed a type x into my sunfire GT.

Custom 1.9 cf sealed box (This sub is meant for sealed boxes.. or so I've heard from many sources)

Alpine MRD1001 (1000W RMS) Amp powering it, with 0ga wire.. gold plated battery terminals etc.

This sub hits HARD... So far, I'm very happy with it. I have the LPF set at 100Hz which seems just right and the sound reproduction is very good.. from quick bass, to long stretches of rumbling.

All people that have sat in the back of my car think I have two 12" in the trunk.

Give this puppy 1000W.. it WANTS it.

Type X advice from a DEALER: "I wouldn't touch them. I'm actually waiting until someone returns one to trade in for a JL so I can actually play with it..."

I personally do not like how much emphasis they put ont the import tuner look of it. I would put RE or Adire in my car way before I'd put that iconoclastic piece of styled "pop culture attempt at selling stereo equipment" in my car. Of course it could be really good and I'd eat my words. But nobody makes a HU like Alpine. I can safely say that much!

Here they are... some pics //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Sorry about the shitty wiring job in the trunk, but I'm switching out my amp in 2 weeks for a 2000W dual-channel, so there's no point in making it look nice.

My friend and I decided to build a very sturdy sealed box.. we double layered and glued two 1/2 inch thick MDF sides to make sure no air gets outta there.. it sounds reeeeaaalll nice.. better than any system with 1 12" I've heard so far.
