alpine typeX 12"

k so built a box a while back for 2 type X's... decided that my new car didn't need to rattle apart... so i'm going down to one.

quick question... what is the best box design for tight bass? and what size? sky is the limit on this one. if i can't built it i will have a pro do it for me.

from what i have read, the type x is a sound quality based sub. i wanted to run a vented box, to make up for a little more noise. but still want a very clean sound all around. i don't listen to country... but my ipod holds everything else.

the manual recommends sealed, vented, and bandpass.

i have heard that bandpass gives you a very flat line, where vented will give you more noise, with little sq loss.

so which would be better? bandpass or ported?

and are there different port designs that would be better than just a regular rectangle? the sheet calls for a 12''x 1'' port 24 inches long and a primary box of 1.8 ft.

is there a different way to port it that would be better sounding?
