would u reccomend these subs. i havnt heard much about them. 229 at ike sound dosnt sound to bad. can u compare em to any other subs on the market. Is it a sq, spl, or sql sub. this and the rl-ps are my main choice. but i want alot more spl out of 1 sub. and even louder with 2.

its rated at 1000 watt rms and 3000 watt peak.. i was wodering if itll get as loud or louder than a l7 with more sq with the right power and box type

Those things would never beat out L7's lol! But they are very clean nice sounding subs. Yeah they are nice but if you want somethin' to pound go cheaper and get the L7's (I have them of course) The the Type X's I was looking to get but the L7's can even sound nicer then them if you wanted! I would recomend somethin' else if your looking for something to pound. If your looking for quality skip up to JL W6's or W7's. But those Type X's are very nice.

Why is a Type X and an L7 being compared? If you are really in to sound quality I would recomend the X. If you just listen to rap or something and you want to get loud then get the L7. The type X is supposed to be compared with a W7.

actually that would under power it,my JBL bpx1100.1 is rated at 1141watts at 4ohms bridged, and i blew mine type X in half an hour ,just cause it wasnt getting enough power(One of Alpines well known flaws),if you want something that pounds i would say get a JL 12W7,i got one and it is a beast,spencive to say the least but definitely worth it.If your looking for a cheaper system that pounds,my friend has two Alpine type R 12's wired to a Memphis amp that get just as loud as my W7,but arent a clean sounding as the W7.

Underpowering doesn't kill subs. I think you clipped the shit out of your X.

maybe ,but underpowering can kill subs, especially Alpines,my 2 best friend run a well known(around this area anyways)audio shop, and they say that does it good.

Nope. When you lower the volume, turn the gain down. You're underpowering

RMS is a thermal rating. I still say you clipped it, which means your HU's signal wasn't matched with your gains correctly, which in turns, doubles your amps rated power to your subs. You cooked your X.
