Alpine SWR-12D2/D4: 800W @ 2 ohms or 1200W @ 1 ohm ?

I was about to get the Alpine MRX-M110 amplifier but I just figured out that it was way too expensive for my budjet now (~350$). So I decided to look at different amplifiers and found the Hifonics BRX1100.1D (800W @ 2 ohms and 1200W @ 1 ohm) that would be perfect for me and my wallet (~175$). The problem is I don't know if I should take the 2 or 4 ohms model of the new Type-R's (12", 1000W) to get 800W or 1100W from this amplifier. So I just wanna know if it is safer to wire it at 2 ohms and get 800W or at 1 ohm and get 1100W (too much for the subwoofer?). Thanks.
