What exactly do you mean by the tweeters being "a diamond in the rough"? I don't quite understand that.
I think I'm going to look into the RSd's a lot closer now. Since I'll be saving money getting these instead of the X's, I'll use that to get some more deadening and do more of my car. Thanks a lot.

i am not an expert on tweeters but the RSD's tweeters seem very good. they can get loud but also have a crisp, very clear sound to them. way better than the harsh kappa perfects i had back in the day.

also look into the ppip component speakers, the peerless definition component speakers, and u might want to even build your own. i bet some dayton 7" ref series driver pared with the xt 25 tweeter would be amazing together for front stage that would cost about 140 after shipping costs.

if u wanted to do a little better from ref mids buy some standard seas drivers like L18's and pair with seas 27 type neo tweeter that run 28 a piece

I think you will be very happy with the PG RSd. I have head them twice and have heard the older Alpine set. I have yet to hear anything in the pre packaged sub $100 range that is on par with the PG.IMO I would even so far as to say that to get better than PG you would need spend atleast $150.00.IMO

For around $90 bucks for the PG nothing even close to their prefomance price ratio avaliable.IMO
