Alpine SPX-17REF crossover?

The crossovers for these speaker have a tweeter level adjustment. You can select 0, -1.5, -3 or -6dB. There is absolutely no information about this setting in the owners manual. What actually does this adjustment do and what is the best setting?

Also, which wire is the positive on the tweeter, the black wire or the black with white stripe?

0, -1.5, etc are to lower the level of loudness of your tweeter compared to woofer. Good when it is too 'bright'. White stripes usually mean negative from my experience.
