Alpine SPR-17LS SQ

How do the Alpine SPR-17LS speakers perform in terms of purely SQ? I'm gonna inherit them but they are too deep for my car so I'll have to go through the trouble of getting/making baffles. If they have good SQ then I'll just make/buy the baffles, but if they don't sound good then I might as well find something else... Any opinions?

midbass is pretty good, tweeter is very lame and undetailed, im not a fan of them

What if I bought a separate pair of tweeters (for example these http://www.midwestelectronics.com/blaupunkt-vc100-p-97.html) and hooked them up instead of the ones the speakers came with. That would work right? Would it sound noticeably better?

I would look at parts express or madisound for better

tweeters.

that kind of stuff gets tricky because the crossover is designed for that tweeter. when you hook up another in its place it may or may not sound right.
