Alpine speakers NOT subs

What is the major difference between the Alpine type R speakers and the new alpine type S? I was thinking about getting the new type s' becasue there cheaper and there 3 way, while the type R's are only 2 way. I think they handle the same amount of power too. Is the type R that much of a better speaker? Thanks

best advice anyone could give you would be for you to hear them out, and see if the price difference is worth it compared to the quality....

as far as speakers if you're talkin about components just know that the alpine type r component midbass woofer is huge!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! can't even mount the summabic in my front car b/c of the depth (window handle blocks speaker grill - not doin any cutting in my car either nor building kick panels)

in the back, and find what depth/size will fit in front then find something..

i'm thinking probably

kicker / rf/ mb quart but b/c i have a ford escort, i'm not goin to get really really high end comps for hte front.... due to the fact that i'll be gettin a new car

then in new car move the type r's in the front and others in rear....
