Im pretty sure all Alpines use the MX feature, I was wondering what you guys think of it. Im also a little unsure about my equilizer in my Alpine CDA-7995. Alpine has that stupid bass engine thing, but I cant really seem to get any good results with it.

Anyone here experienced with tuning Alpine decks? Im very ready to drop this thing soon and move to something newer and more advanced.

Not sure if MX is on my 9835, but I know it was on my 7894 and 7893 - I always turned it off. Does nothing but distort under heavy dynamics.

The 7995 is a nice deck, but it's not for you if you want something with a ton of features //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif It's excellent as a dead head for an outboard EQ or processor though...

I dont mind it, I enjoy that it has no internal amp, so they added the DC-DC converter for "cleaner" preouts (although I wonder if its more a bullshit marketing scam then actually doing its job) I also got it a couple years ago for like 200cdn, so it was a great deal. But Ive upgraded pretty much everything this year, and I think the weakest link is in the Head Unit.

Maybe I should just add an an EQ or processor. Yet a whole other area of unexplored car audio to venture into, and yet another excuse to empty my wallet for it!

MX is a media Xpander that is meant to compensate for the frequency cut-offs on mp3's (or other compressed media types). MP3's cut off the extreme highs and lows in order to compress the file to make it the small file size that it is. Alpine's media xpander actually does a good job in decompressing them so that they sound better when you play them back.

It shouldn't be used with a high quality audio cd track...just low quality, compressed music.
