Alrighty, I could use some help here. I wanted to know, if I bought the 2005 version of the Type R's would I notice a difference compared to my 2004 version? I'd be replacing them 2 Alpine Type R's 2005 with my 2004 version Type R.

Also, i'm not sure what amps I have, but I have 2 amps and each is somewhere around 300w RMSx1.. if anyone has any idea that'd be great. And if they know what amps they are would they work with my subs? My subs i'd be getting would be 4 OHM. Thanks guys..

it wouldent be worth the upgrade just to have the new model
It's not just because it's the new model, they're also 200w RMS more each. 400w RMS altogether.

sure wont mine lasted barely 3 months. trying to get them serviced now. save your money
Wow, that sucks.. how long have you been waiting? How much power were they getting? Were the gains high?

Had my 05's for around 6 months off 1200 watts, doing about 550 on each sub. So a little over recommended specs and are holding up fine. I have heard people putting 1200rms to one sub, but you better know what you are doing.

I have had both years in dual 12"s. I would say the 05's blow away the 04's, but that is just my experience. Good luck!

Yeah, i've heard there's a huge difference. Don't know what amps I have by chance do ya? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

I have a 140amp alternator, 1/2 year old bought new and a red top battery. If I put a yellow top in the back and put it to the stereo and wire it to the alternator and do the big 3 does anyone think that will kill my alternator.?.. or should I be fine?

The new Alpine Type R's are completly different Subs compared to the older moldels. The New ones can get exceptionally louder in the right application. And no you dont have to put 1200 watts on them for them to shine. I would say a properly designed ported enclosure and 1200 watts on a pair of them would be a respectable setup.
