New guy thats been searching all afternoon and still has questions.

I'm putting together a modest system for my daily driver with an emphasis for sound quality over SPL. I drive 120 miles a day and can no longer listen to the stock stereo.

I installed an Alpine CDA-9886 and I have Kicker 6.5" SS components on the way for the front stage.

I'm installing a 10" subwoofer in a small sealed enclosure in the rear hatch area. I was originally going to purchase a JL 450/4 to power the frts and subs but found I lack the space for the amp.

I was prepared to buy the JL HD 4-channel amp then changed my mind to the Alpine PDX series due to it being more affordable. I stopped at a shop by my work who then suggested the Premier PRSD-4200F saying that it is the same technology and is the best buy of the bunch.

I plan on using this amp in 3-channel mode to run everything and will eventually add a mono block for the sub. Come to think of it, as cheap as the Pioneer is, I can probably due both now.

I know these are all class D amps but do they in fact share the same technology. The Pio Premier has the Ice technology from Bang & Olufson. For most things I believe you get what you pay for so in this case I'm a little hesitant to go with the Pioneer. What do you think. I appreciate any insight you may have.

I'll entertain any suggestions you may have. The sub and amp is undecided.

The equipment is going into a Pontiac Vibe. The sub is going into a custom sealed enclosure that willl be installed inside the spare tire ssembly and set flush with the floor in the back. The amp will sit in an enclosure next to the subwoofer so there's not alot of room to play with. I was planning on running a JL 450/4 and run the 1 & 2 channel bridged to the sub and run the 3 & 4 channel to the components. I was going to power the rear door speakers with the head unit for fill although the rear speakers are not that necessary. After remeasuring, the 450/4 at 9 5/8" wide plus room for the connections is just too wide to fit.

The sealed enclosure will be about 3/4 of a foot so I was thinking of going with a JL 10W3V3 but not sold on anything yet. I was told the 10W3V3 works well in small sealed enclosures, punchy yet accurate.

My focus for my system is SQ and keeping things hidden. Thats why I was thinking the new digital amps might fit my application.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Maybe not the exact same technology, but they are all full range Class D amps. The Class D technology is mature enough at this point that I would expect that there will be no noticeable difference among the amps other than price and extra features. No, I'm not saying that they're the same amps just that you won't know the difference by their performance.

Either the Alpine or the JL use ICE as well, but I don't remember which. Memphis also makes (or at least markets) a series of full range Class D amps as well.
