Alpine PDX-4.100 making my engine noises

Ok, after few weeks of testing, I found the problems to my speakers having distortion noises and engine noise when my vol is at 0 or low. Engine noises come on when gas pedal is pressed. When I unplugged the RCAs from my Alpine PDX and touch the RCA inputs with my hand and rcas, the noises come in.

So is the PDX messed up? All the other wires are in right place including grounds...

what do you mean plug in an ipod directly to pdx? i use my ipod on my alpine deck and it still makes those noises
use the ipod connected to the amp directly. this will take the hu out of the equation and let you know if it is the amp or not. if the noise goes away while playing the ipod directly then it is the hu or the rca cable.

its called alternator whine.....its the rca's you have to ground them (especially many models from pioneer) search for the solution...
x2, I got engine noise from mine, and it was mu deck. Pionners are notorious for doing this, two of my friends got pionner decks and they do the same thing to do. Different cases but its all still engine crying babying whining.

could just as easily be a bad ground for the amp. that's why using another audio source will diagnose it immediately.

ok do i need an adapter like the one pictured to plug my ipod directly into the amp? i dont see an input on the amp anywhere.

my deck is an alpine and i have already grounded the rcas on the alpine, didnt help....should i do the same on the alpine amp?

Yes you will need a mini stereo jack (3.5mm) to RCA adapter to plug the MP3 player into the amp.

ok it is the amp, i connected the ipod to the rear rcas and it still makes the noise when volume is at 0 like with the alpine headunit.

the ground is connected to the neg terminal of rear battery which is connected to the front battery...

any other suggestions?

i knew it was the amp since when i touched the rca inputs on it, it makes the noise automatically(louder too).

did you disconnect the front inputs to the amp while testing? you don't want the hu connected to the amp in any way. use a small wire and jump from the + to the remote as well.
