I try to install my Alpine PDX1.600 amp today for my Image Dynamics IDQ12 but the sub isn't hitting hard. I have the gain set midway and the voltage switch is set at 1.0-8.0 volts since i am using a pioneer premier 680mp headunit with 4v preouts. However when i switch the voltage switch to .1-1.0 volt, the sub hits hard like it should. However i don't want to leave it at this setting since it might destroy my system. any reasons why my sub do not hit hard when the voltage switch is at 1.0-8.0 volts?

hmmm, is the sub up on the deck? does the deck have variable voltage (my jvc does)?

Make sure the settings are right on the deck, and keep in mind it's 4volts near max volume with settings up.

i set the volume at 55/61 on my pioneer and cannot achieve the voltage(34.64v) on my DMM unless i set my PDX amp to .1-1v setting.

apparently there were issues with the pdx model and its input voltage switch. I just switched it to .1-1 volts and achieved my targeted voltage of 32 volts

I'm a little late to the party but I have the same amp with an Alpine 9887 H/U (4V Pre-out Max) and I have the PDX set to .1-1 volts as well for it to hit hard...have had it set this way for over a year now with no issues. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

I have the same setup, plus I'm running at 1.3 ohms and it's still kicking just fine :)

Yeah, I'm running 2 JL Audio 10" subs rated at 8 ohms but running in parallel so the amp is seeing 4 ohms per driver...I have to have the gain cranked all the way but it hits pretty good for 10" subs each in a .5 cu. ft. sealed enclosure...not much space under that rear seat!

My ARC FD4.150 has the gains ONLY from I think .2-2V. They noted in the manual that it doesn't matter, it's just set that way because of something, I forget what.
