I'm new here (but read these posts all the time) and probably should have joined a long time ago. I need some help. I have two questions:

1) Which is a better quality amp Alpine PDR-V75 or Arc XDI 850.5? I know that the pdr is not the same level as the pdx, but is there a major difference in quality?

2) I have seen where the PDR amps wattage are a little underrated. EX. specs show 350 watts on the sub channel 2 ohms, and actual wattage on one was 427. Is this true.

I hope you can help me by answering these questions.

I'd go with the Arc. I love my Arc KS900.6. Their XDi line is one of the better Class D line of amps. Their customer service is very good, as well.

I have a Jl audio 10tw3 for my sub that's already installed which calls for 300-400 RMS. If that tells you anything. Single sub. I wish I could do the pdx....just can't right now.

400 RMS tells me it can handle noise for a few hours no stop at 400 watts.

Something we don't do. Don't get to caught up in one spec. Sure you can blow a speaker from too much power but it will take way more then a 400 RMS amp since they rarely produce 400 watts. Any amp.

It's the W3 a SVC 2?

Question that doesn't have to do with amps. Ballistic around the door speakers, is it worth it or is it a sales pitch for more money? I just remember many systems that sounded crazy and they didn't have Ballistic material.

Ballistic? Yes door treatments are extreamly important. Look up what a back wave is.
