Alpine or Hifonics

Imshirazy: It's definitively not between just the Alpine and Hifonics those were just two I am looking at. Is there any specific Autotek you could recommend that would put out 55W or less.

For the 6x9 speakers: I've learned a lot about speakers since I've bought those and in retrospect I probably should have bought 6 1/2, but the speakers sound very good to me and that's all the really matter. Next time though.

I would say alpine. But Id also say you need more than40-50 watts. I wouldnt buy anything under 70x4, trust me more power is good. I bought a 45x4 alpine amp for my speakers, they sounded alright, but came to life when I bridged the amp to just the fronts. I now use that alpine amp just for my tweeters. Trust us when we say you dont need rear speakers, just put enough power to the fronts and youll understand.

If this is a really stupid question forgive me but since my front speakers are rated 2-55W am I able to use an amp with more than 55W.

i have zues 6.5's and i love them, going to be amping them soon but i would deff. go hifonics they sound great, not sure if this is what ur lookin for but theres my .02

Sure

and to answer your Q about the 55 rms vs 70 rms, it won't harm the speakers, adding a few extra watts never hurt anybody, just as long as you dont go into 80 - 90 - 100 and higher

put it this way, you got the absolute top amount of power your speaker can take, then take half of that and it's rms. rms is usually used to let buyers know what watts they can run the speaker at for a very long amount of time without it heating up/getting damaged more or less. there's a bit more to it than that but that's really all you gotta know

and if you want, just turn the gain down a bit to lower how much power is being sent through //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

this autotek puts out 75 watts by 4 channels, I don't like the look of the newer SS models though...super sport is the lowest line of the autotek line, but they're still nonetheless amazing

the older autotek amps are incredibly small but very underrated. If you end up learning a good enough about these, go for them, but as of now if you're not sure of anything about them, don't touch them

the mx and sx line are the next highest up after super sport, unfortunately I could only find a used one :/

Then if you go into the mm line (mean machine) you're asking for a lot, those amps are incredibly powerful and destructive, meant for subs unless you look at older models.

For your sake though I'd recommend the SS. the one i linked you actually retails for near 400 dollars, but since not many people know of autotek the prices you can get for them on ebay are very low

but of course i've noticed that the more I tell people about autotek the higher the prices seem to go and the more bids o.0

maybe just high coincidence

correction: mean machine does have amps for speakers too

Thanks for the information. Do the Autoteks overheat, I heard the Hifonics can get very hot sometimes. Anyone else have any opinions of the Autoteks, or any others?

How would I know though if I was sending to much power to the speakers. For example since you said I can use 70rms I was considering this:

Would I just turn the volume up until I hear distortion (with the gain at zero) then turn the volume down one step then turn the gain up until I get distortion? Would this ensure I wasn't sending to many watts to the speaker? I really don't want to damage them.
