Alpine or Hifonics

Hi im new to this stuff and im looking to buy 2 alpine type r 2 ohm dvc subs and im not sure what I want to get to power them..I could buy 2 Alpine MRP-M650 mono amps off

http://www.sonicelectronix.com

thery are each 600 rms each at 2 ohms and I think those would power them nicely

I could also get a 1600 watt Hifonics BXi 1606D of sonicelectronix.com

and get two 4 ohm dvc type r's and wire them to 1 ohm which would give me the 1600 watts, but im not sure I want to get a hifonics amp..ive heard good things but would their be a big difference if I went with the alpine amps they would cost me about $100-150 more...

please let me know what you think..

Id say alpine. reason, they will match. I have had great long lasting products from them. The hifonics is cheaper, but, I mean just that, I dont think it will last as long. I am amazed with all that I hear about hifonics, but just the name sounds cheap. Im old school and we used to laugh at stuff with names like this. I am running alpine amps and am even thinking of a kenwood amp for my subs because of the price, I will probabily hear that the hifonics is better but I still cant get over the cheap blue lighting on there amps and god forbid I see the picture of their glowing flourecent blue component speakers again .//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif Flame on but ADS,JL ,alpine, nakamichi, boston acoustics, even kenwood will get my money over hifonics, profile, audioubahn? Please, once you make over $10 an hour you realize there are better companys out there. Sorry for the rant but remanufactured $50 profile amps make me laugh.

thank you for your advice..will running 2 amps affect anything or put more of a strain on my battery?will the sq be the same as running it with one amp or worse...also what do you suggest a sealed or vented box..im looking for alottt of spl..and pretty good sq..

space is not an issue I have a toyota 4runner and I have all the space behind the rear seats

I've known people who have their alpine amps last em like 6 months, Alpine makes better subs, I say they are equal in amps, but anyone will say anything, its personal preference, i love my hifonics personally, if u want 2 amps, its just more wire, and hope you got good electrical

Alpine>Hifonics. Hifonics won't last as long and I won't think it will be a good amp in general.
Where did you hear Hifonics wont last long?

http://www.caraudio.com/forum/showthread.php?t=207056&highlight=hifonics+problem

To get something to match does not mean it will be better.

My friend had a Hifonics 1606 for quite some time with no problems.

Do note the final load for the Type R 2 ohm is 1 ohm not 2 ohms. The final load for the Type R 4 ohm is 2 ohms. So if you were to buy the Alpine MRP-M650, you would need to get the 4 ohm type R because that amp doesnt support 1 ohm.

For $400 you can come by a much better used amp here in the classifieds.

Waittt why is the final load 1 ohm? couldnt i wire 2 dvc 2ohm's to 2 ohms?

your probably right im just new to this

ohh I get it

its because its a dvc subwoofer...I will have to get the 4 ohm one then

I also found an alpine amp with 1000rms@1ohm I think I might just get that and run 2 4ohm dvc woofers off that..

does that sound right?

also should I go vented or sealed box..Im looking for big spl but still decent sq

let me know

thanks

If its stable then its fine, if your looking to only buy from http://www.sonicelectronix.com they do sell MA Audio amps which are fine as well.

You should go ported like 4.5 or 5 cubes

Actually that amp isnt stable at 1 ohm so id have to get 2 2ohm dvc subs and wire em to a 2 ohm load...

that'd work right?
