alpine mrx-50 worked fine for a year, no stops playing

I've got an alpine mrx-50 500rms mono amp that be had for almost a year and it's worked fine bar a few times going into protect when I purposely pushed it beyond it's limit. Now today I had it up a little more than normal but I was playing some Police, so it was around the same output as the rap I normally play. It cut out, so I turned my car off and on at the stoplight and turned it back to normal. Then I played some nickelback at normal settings and it cut out again until I turned the car on and off. I checked ground and it's still fine. Any ideas? The amp is actually still cool to the touch.
