Alpine MRV-M500 vs. MRX-M55 Mono Sub Amp ... Any Huge Difference Between the Two?

So I currently have the Alpine MRV-M500 amp installed in my truck to a single 10" JL Audio W0 Sub.

Sounds pretty **** good to me really and am pleased with it so far.

But the more I read about the Alpine MRX-M55 models being very comparable to the high end PDX Series amp technology and overall seem to a bit of a higher end amp then the MRV series.

Plus it has a Subsonic level on it (the MRV does not) .... is this an added benefit on the MRX over the MRV not having it? What is the Subsonic level dial do?

Plus I know has about 50W RMS more power then the MRV series but my sub is a 300W RMS max anyway so the extra power I think will be a benefit in my case currently (but may be a plus if I decide to say move up to the W3 in the future)

Like I said I am pleased with the MRV-M500 model (I have the old MRP model in my charger and it has been rock solid for a couple years so I am sold on Alpine and LOVE these amps)... But I can get the MRX- series for $75 more then my current MRV (still in return window and I thin the remote bass input has an issue so it's going to be returned for a new anyway ... but thought maybe about upgrading to the MRX if the 75 is worth it somehow you know).

Anyone have any experience with these two amps? If so in my situation with the single JL W0 (V3) sub in a 1.0 cu. ft. sealed box in my truck would I see more clean and stable power and hear a difference by moving to the MRX Series Alpine Amp???

Thanks so much for the information guys! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

the mrx will do around 50 to 60 watts more then the mrv so to me it comes down to the sub sonic filter is it worth 75 dollars to you i have also got a chance to hear a pdx 600 and could not really hear the diffrence betweeen that and my mrv

ssf is really only a plus if you have a high-tuned ported box.

Below the tuning frequency there is little resistance to cone movement which can lead to a damaged sub.

Setting the SSF a little below Fb protects the sub from mechanical damage at low fq's.

If you're ported but tuned in the low 30's it's not likely you'd encounter any frequency that would be a cause for concern.

If your box is sealed is not a factor.

Ya i have the 10" JL Audio in a 1.0 sealed box in my truck.

So it looks at if the SSF is not a huge factor really either!

Looks like for me and my set-up the MRX and the added price is really not needed from what I can tell.
