Hey Guys I'm looking at buying an Alpine MRP-M850. However, there is very little talk on here about this Amp, which sorta makes my spidy sense tingle a lil.

I'm see them online for about ~260$

URL: http://www.alpine-usa.com/US-en/products/product.php?model=MRP-M850

Quick Stats:

CEA-2006 Power Rating

CEA-2006 Power Rating (40hm@14.4V = 1%THD+N), S/N 100dBA (Ref. 1W into 4Ohm):

500W x 1

RMS Power (at 14.4V THD+N, 20Hz-200Hz)

Per channel into 4 ohms: 500W x 1 (0.08% THD)

Per channel into 2 ohms: 800W x 1

I'm looking for something that can give me at least 600 clean watts @ 2.66ohms.

Anyone have any experience w/ this amp? (or this series) Or have any other amps they can recommend? This amp will be going under the drivers seat, so form factor is really the only issue.

Its my buddy from tundrasolutions. I don't think you need an amp with that much power if you don't want it. At 2.66 ohms you would have almost 800 watts, plus the amp is underrated. I bought the mrp-m605 which has about 730 watts from the berth sheets I have seen. And I got it for about 230 shipped.

People also recommended this amp to me. It is 1-4 ohm stable and it's pretty cheapl

Good Luck.

Oh geesh... I can't get rid of you.... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif I've actullay decided to finally buy "More Amp" than I need so I always have room to grow...

I guess I'll wait to see how well your mrp-m605 fits under the seats, because the 850 is an inch or 2 longer...

Alpine amps are solid.. cant really go wrong with them. The more clean power you have the better. Better to have plenty extra clean power than to be at the limit of clean power and risk clipping. Plus if you ever upgrade you will have that extra just in case.

I would not hesitate to buy another Alpine amp. The little MRP-M350 I bought 2 years ago is wesome for the size. Alpine amps are pretty efficient, and put out atleast their rated power. Great solid amps.

Very cool. I guess this is what I wanted to hear -- I'm just curious as to why there is so little discussion on these amps, and why they are rarely recommended. *shrug*

Thanks guys.

Because for one (I think), Alpine amps are not rated to go below 2ohms, which doesn't give you as many wiring options as other manufacturers. And for the price I think you can get better "performance". meaning you can get a 1600 watt Hifonics rated @ 1ohm, for the same price as a 1000 watt Alpine. But in my experience - quality wins over quantity every time. thats why the next amp I buy will be an Alpine.

this forum is about boners and only the type r is a boner on this forum

as for having too much power, you can always set your gains to output less power. alpine makes solid amps. this amp should do you well.
