Hey guys,
This is my first post here unfortunately because I'm having some problems that I can't for the life of me figure out...
I'll start out by describing my setup:
Head Unit: An older Alpine Unit with ipod hookup and preamps in rear
Amp: Alpine MRP-M350 Mono Amp
Subs: Alpine SWE-1242 Type E 12"s x 2
Subs are wired in bridge mode to the amp.
Alright, here's my issue...a few days to a week ago I was driving and noticed I had no power to my subs. I checked my amp, and my power light was off. I checked my connections, unscrewed my terminals and rescrewed them in tightly and nothing. I work property management around my area, so I make at least 10-20 stops a day for my job. After I adjusted the connections, a few trips later I started my ignition and they fired right up, normal volume and all but in a few minutes failed and my amp shut off. I checked it all again, and decided to start from scratch and re-terminal and solder all my connections because I found some to be loose. After that I checked my ground and noticed some rust. I sanded my ground location down to bare metal tonight and no change - turns on and right back off or not on at all. So I grabbed a spare piece of 4 gauge wire and touched my remote terminal to the battery terminal on the amp and voila, I got a light - however, it would turn on and fade, turn on then fade, etc etc. I'm not sure if that's normal or a sign that I'm suddenly pulling too much power.
Anyway, I'm stuck. I've tried everything I've read online and everything I could logically think of. My fuses are all intact (at the post on the battery and both 20A's on the amp). I have no signs of dimming or battery discharge. I've had this exact same setup for 3-4 years and have never had a single problem with my system until recently. I've always used 4 gauge power wires and 4 gauge ground and for this setup I think it's probably overkill or on par at best to use those gauge cables.
So where do I go from here and what should I check next??? ANY input would be greatly appreciated!!! Music is so boring without the twins //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
